Former Met McDowell accused of hurling anti-gay slurs
Roger McDowell, the former Mets reliever and current pitching coach for the Atlanta Braves, is accused of hurling homophobic slurs at a batting practice Saturday before a San Francisco Giants game.
At a news conference Wednesday, his accuser, Justin Quinn, 33, of Fresno, Calif., said McDowell used anti-gay remarks to three men in the bleachers and threatened him physically. He's seeking an apology and sensitivity training, said his attorney, Gloria Allred.
McDowell nor the Braves commented publicly Wednesday.
