  • Foul-mouthed bedtime book rocks the shelves

    Go the F to Sleep

It's the book everyone's talking about: Adam Mansbach's irreverent ode to parenting, "Go the F--- to Sleep."

After numerous failed attemps at getting his 3-year-old daughter to sleep, Mansbach penned what seems like a classic children's bedtime story, geared toward fed-up parents - and parents only.

And it's a runaway hit. The book debuted at No. 1 on the New York Times best-seller list last week (in the advice category, no less). That's after shooting to No. 1 on Amazon before it was published. In fact, it was such a huge viral hit that its release date was moved from October to June.

But some find it a bit too snarky and are uncomfortable with the repetition of a certain four-letter word.

Mansbach said much of the feedback he's received has been positive, including from parents who find the book's harsh language cathartic. "The reviews that are one star on Amazon are usually from people saying, 'I would never read this to my kid.' Yeah, you're not supposed to," he added.
