If you've never been to the lovely Socrates Sculpture Park in Long Island City, you've got a good excuse to head there today: a free show at 6:30 p.m. from Nicole Atkins and the Sea.
The singer was born and raised in the New Jersey rock Americana towns that spawned the likes of Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi - but her sound is worlds away, a mix the vocalist has dubbed "pop-noir," sort of a soul-fused, bluesy Mazzy Star.
