'Gatsby' glam hits the Big Apple
It was an old-fashioned glam gals’ night out in NYC on Thursday.
Tiffany & Co. threw a Jazz Age-themed bash that attracted gorgeous A-list guests, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson, Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Williams, Jessica Biel and Carey Mulligan, who stars in Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming film version of “The Great Gatsby.” Also there were Luhrmann and his wife, costume designer Catherine Martin. Earlier in the week, Tiffany’s Fifth Avenue flagship unveiled opulent “Gatsby”-themed windows, which showcase a jewelry line inspired by the film version of the Roaring ’20s-set F. Scott Fitzgerald classic.
At Thursday’s ultra-swanky Blue Book Ball, held at Rockefeller Center, the 400 guests indulged in Moet & Chandon while enjoying a live jazz band, orchestra, flapper-esque dancers and a surprise performance from “Smash” star Megan Hilty.
Making their way around the soiree, Parker and a Ralph Lauren-clad Paltrow “were inseparable throughout the evening, laughing and catching up like two lost friends,” a witness dished to us. Hudson also chatted with the ladies.
Two other gals making heads turn were Williams and Mulligan, who rocked similar cropped blonde locks.
Even though Williams donned a navy-blue gown and Mulligan wore a sleek black Victoria Beckham cape jacket and trousers, “guests were remarking how they looked like twins with their short blonde pixie haircuts,” our spy said.
Also at the party: Alice Eve, Doutzen Kroes and Poppy Delevingne.
