George Takei took in the city Sunday to show his support for gay rights. The actor, best known as Hikaru Sulu from "Star Trek," has a large social media following, where he is vocal about LGBT issues.

What do you think of today's turnout?

    It's terrific. It's galactic.

You have millions of followers on Facebook and Twitter who have shown their support for you. How does their enthusiasm help your cause?

They have been so faithful. They will bring about the change that is needed in the world.

City Council Speaker Christine Quinn marched in the parade today with her wife. What message does that send to the nation?

You've had gay mayors in other cities, but not in New York City. It's great that she is open and she would make a fine leader.
