Gunshots, fractures, hamstrings.
All have become a part of the Giants' week leading into Sunday's 8:20 p.m. matchup with the hated but implosive 3-6 Eagles. But despite supper club shootings and injuries to Ahmad Bradshaw and Michael Boley, the Giants can't afford to give this one away with Dallas creeping up on their two-game NFC East lead.
The Eagles have blown four fourth-quarter leads and the Giants have shown consistent comeback ability, save for last week against San Francisco. But Michael Vick's uncertain status with cracked ribs and the absence of wide receiver Jeremy Maclin won't keep the Eagles from mounting a stern challenge at MetLife Stadium.
Here are three issues the Giants need to solve to beat the Eagles.
The Real McCoy
LeSean McCoy is the league's second-leading rusher with 907 yards and 10 touchdowns. If the Giants' run defense continues its struggles, McCoy can chew up that unit at will. Not having LB Boley will force defensive coordinator Perry Fewell to pull every trick he knows out of his hat, given that the immediate alternatives are using the three-safety combination or trusting a rookie like Spencer Paysinger.
Get Off Fast
Eli Manning nearly did that last week against San Francisco, only to have an impressive first drive stall into field-goal mode. The Giants have scored all of 16 first-half points in the last three games, including a scoreless half against the Patriots. That needs to change, pronto. As San Francisco proved, that fourth-quarter magic doesn't happen all the time.
