Girl pepper sprays students and staff at Bronx high school
Pepper spray is the new weapon of choice in New York high schools.
In the third similar attack in recent weeks, a student at Banana Kelly High School in the South Bronx pepper sprayed more than a dozen people yesterday, including the school's principal. The school was evacuated for about an hour after the incident, which occurred in the cafeteria around 1 p.m.
Nine students, including the suspected assailant, were being treated at Lincoln Hospital yesterday, according to the NYPD. The suspect, who is 15 and whose name is not being released because she is a juvenile, was in custody yesterday. A formal arrest would take place after she received medical attention, said a police spokesman.
