Matthew Morrison — aka “Glee’s” adorable Mr. Schuster — premiered his first original pop single, “Summer Rain,” on Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS-FM radio show Monday morning.

    It’s preeeeeetty cheesy.

Picture a canned white-boy reggae-pop beat reminiscent of Kris Allan or Eric Hutchinson coupled with WTF lyrics such as: “Who needs lover’s lane/Right up on this rooftop/Let’s make love in the summer rain” and “Your eyes are begging me to touch you there.”

    Um, ew.

Morrison’s strong voice is way better suited to Broadway-style music, which is what he started out singing, or at least more intricate, jazzier melodies where his range can shine.

Morrison, 32, said he was asked to record an album of covers, but nixed the idea. “I thought, to be taken seriously as an artist, I had to write my own songs.”

    Irony's a bitch, Mr. Schu.
