The Big Game is coming up -- the Puppy Bowl, that is.

Puppy Bowl IX airs this Sunday, continuing a beloved tradition of alternative viewing for those who aren't too enthused about watching the spectacle of the Super Bowl.

Here’s everything you need to know to get your puppy fix:

    - Set in a dog-sized stadium, this year’s Puppy Bowl features 63 puppies (you can check the lineups here).

    - Points are scored when the puppies drag football-shaped chew toys into the endzones, while penalties are awarded for “unnecessary ruff-ness.”

    - Puppies aren’t the only pets that can get in the game. This year’s Puppy Bowl will feature the Kitten Halftime Show, as well hedgehog cheerleaders, a hamster-piloted blimp, and live tweets from sideline reporter “Meep the Bird.”

    - Watch the game at 3 p.m. this Sunday on Discover Channel.
