Prosecutors are waiting to formally arraign the homeless man accused of raping a woman on a Hudson River Park bench.

Jonathan Stewart, 25, was still being held at Bellevue Hospital after he allegedly tried to kill himself, a police spokesman said.

The NYPD representative could not confirm or deny that the ex-con did hurt himself while he was locked up, but that he was placed under observation after he claimed he tried to commit suicide.

Stewart, who was convicted on sex abuse charges, allegedly sat next to the 21-year-old victim around 5 a.m. Saturday and engaged her in a conversation. He then dragged her to a nearby bush and sexually assaulted her, police said.

Cops arrested Stewart later in the day and charged him with rape.
