Islanders will open Barclays Center in October with preseason game

The first game ever played at Brooklyn's new Barclays Center will be an Islanders preseason game against the Devils on Oct. 2, the team announced Tuesday.
The new arena and future home of the Nets, will officially open Sept. 28 with a Jay-Z concert, followed four days later with the Islanders' game, the first-ever NHL match-up in the borough.
"We're extremely excited to play the first NHL game in the new, state-of-the-art Barclays Center," Islanders general manager Garth Snow said, adding that the team is "looking forward to expanding our base into Brooklyn."
