My first show this Fashion Week was Rock & Republic for Kohl's, where I wore the coolest $80 red skinny jeans and sat next to the hottest players on "Gossip Girl" - Ed Westwick and Penn Badgley - as well as Ashlee Simpson and Molly Sims.
Next stop: Lincoln Center to check out Jill Stuart, where Ramses Barden of the Giants and I checked out the rockerish jewel-toned looks and lace cut-out dresses. I spent the entire time explaining the allure of an expensive-looking woman to my new fashion bestie. Maybe someday he can repay me by teaching me about football. At alice + olivia, designer Stacey Bendet took whimsical femininity to another level. With a bevy of killer ballgowns, high-waisted trousers and sparkly cocktail dresses, the presentation was unexpected and definitely glam.
For the men, CFDA winner Michael Bastian showed a sea of male models in the color purple and Charlie Brown-style sweaters, proving the tailored old-English country man is alive and well. Sport coats, tightly knotted ties and vivid socks peeking out of smoking slippers completed the looks, as did the bulldog with which a model shared the runway.
My personal favorite fashion moment was at J.Crew, where I wore a bright-green sequin skirt picked out by head honcho Jenna Lyons. Vivid sequin is one of spring's biggest trends and a new daytime staple. (I made no excuses for wearing it at 9 a.m.!)
But I have to admit the highlight of the past few days was meeting Joan Rivers, who said I was her favorite "Real Housewife." Talk about a compliment. And there was no punchline - just a hug. Phew.
