Kelly Bensimon: Spring style conundrums solved
Kelly Killoren Bensimon - model, fashionista and author of the book "I Can Make You Hot! The Supermodel Diet" - dishes out style advice to amNewYork's readers.
What is the must-have item for spring/summer? It's been since 1953 that Gucci created the horsebit detail on the classic loafer - so in celebration of the 60th anniversary, invest in a pair! Today, the classic loafer comes in every color - or lack of color. Some of my favorites are the nude suede and the white or black studded styles. Enjoy a spin on the classic, and send me pics of you in your Guccis (tweet me @KellyBensimon).
I'm getting married and don't want to make my bridesmaids dress alike - they're all fashion-forward gals and have different body types. Is there a cool way to do the bridesmaid thing that still looks coordinated? I love J.Crew for bridesmaid dresses - they have varied dresses for each body type that come in the same material and color. Or, get the same dress but have the bridesmaids go to M&J Trimming (1008 Sixth Ave., 212-391-6200) and curate their dresses with you. It's a great way to get creative and spend time with you.
I want to buy a pair of leather pants but have a curvy, hourglass figure. Any advice for making them figure-flattering? Leather leggings are tight and meant to accentuate the legs and buttocks - try a loose top or even a fitted blouse to offset the skintight feel.
Which accessories should I invest in for the season? Bold colors are big for spring in terms of accessories, and big, white carryalls are also hot.
I'm very tall and dating a guy who is a few inches shorter than I am. I love wearing heels but don't want to tower over him. Any stylish suggestions? Try hot kitten heels in fab bright-hued patent-leather. Or take him shopping with you - and see what he likes. He's your man - I'm sure he has some ideas.
