Late night B/D/F/M service canceled this week for maintenance
Maintenance work will force thousands of late-night straphangers along the Sixth Avenue subway line to use a different way to get around Manhattan this week.
Service on the B/D/F/M lines will be canceled between 57th Street and West Fourth Street from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., beginning Monday night. Normal schedules on those routes resume on Friday.
The shutdowns will impact up to 37,500 riders and add about 20 minutes to their commutes, the MTA said.
The agency has said that suspending overnight service makes it easier, safer and cheaper for it to do necessary work in stations and along tracks.
The weeklong maintenance work, which is part of the MTA’s “Fastrack” program, is done on large chunks of subway routes on the
Nos. 1/2/3/4/5/6 and A/B/C/D/E/F/M lines up to four times each year.
