Local pols to ask Macy's to move July 4th show to East side
Local pols that represent East Siders are planning a news conference Monday to ask Macy's to move its iconic Fourth of July fireworks show back to their side of Gotham.
Macy's moved the show to the Hudson River in 2009, where it has been held since. Organizers scrapped a plan to move it to the Statue of Liberty last year.
Macy's has not yet announced this year's performance venue, but has previously said the six large barges used to set off fireworks don’t fit on the East Side.
A spokeswoman did not return messages for comment Sunday.
