  • Ma Bell tolls outside of Veselka's

    Jefferson Siegel sends along this photo of a public telephone sign outside Veselka's on Second Avenue and Ninth Street. Nice retro touch.

    What's interesting about this sign is that it's a "proper" one for New York City. It mentions "New York Telephone," which was then part of AT&T. This style of Bell logo was used from 1939 to 1964. Today, New York Telephone goes by the flashier Verizon.
