Man charged with trying to have sex with undercover cop posing as 14-year-old girl
A New Jersey man was charged with trying to meet up for sex with a 14-year-old girl who was in fact an undercover NYPD detective, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said Thursday.
Dhirubhai Patel, 57, of Pennington, was arrested Monday after he arrived at a Queens location where he and the supposed girl he met online had agreed to have sex.
He was charged Wednesday with attempted rape, an attempted criminal sex act and attempted endangering a child, among other charges. He faces up to four years in prison if convicted and was held on $50,000 bond.
Patel is due back in court July 25.
