The year of living idiotically may finally be over for Mad Mel.

“Braveheart” star Mel Gibson agreed in a Los Angeles court yesterday to pay his ex gal-pal, Oksana Grigorieva, $750,000 in three installments over the next five years and to allow her and their 2-year-old daughter to continue living in a house he owns.

The home will be sold when the child, Lucia, turns 18, and proceeds from the sale will go into a trust in her name. The deal hinges on a “truce” in which both parties are barred from publicly discussing or writing about each other, according to People magazine.

Their 2010 split was appallingly acrimonious, with Grigorieva taking out a restraining order against the abusive star who she taped threatening her in expletive-laced rants. The former lovers will now split custody of the girl.

“Thanks, your honor, for bringing this case to a reasonable conclusion,” Gibson, 55, told Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Peter D. Lichtman at the conclusion of the four-day negotiation. Grigorieva, 41, thanked the court as well.

Gibson is still waiting for his divorce from his wife Robyn Moore Gibson, to conclude. The two were married for 26 years and had seven children before separating in 2006, following Gibson’s arrest for drunken driving. His wife filed for divorce three years later, shortly after pictures were released of Gibson and Grigorieva cavorting on a beach.
