Entering the weekend Subway Series, there are the stars and then there are the star-crossed.
When the Mets and Yankees renew their rivalry with a three-game set starting Friday at Citi Field, the missing big names will be as notable as those on the field, starting with Derek Jeter.
After his morning workout on Wednesday in Tampa, Jeter — sidelined since June 13 and stuck at 2,994 career hits — said he expects at least another day of the drills before any kind of decision on a potential minor-league cameo.
