A Brooklyn mother was arrested and charged with attempted murder Sunday for allegedly dumping her baby boy down a garbage chute in a Brooklyn building hours after giving birth, police said.

Laquasia Wright, 18, of Fort Greene, was also charged child endangerment.

The baby, who was found inside a trash bag after a building worker heard him crying in the trash compactor around 9:30 a.m., was rushed to Brooklyn Hospital and was is in stable condition, said a hospital spokeswoman.

Police found Wright in the apartment building at 102 Cumberland Walk in Fort Greene, and police said the Administration for Children's Services will now get involved in the case.

Police didn't know how many floors the baby had fallen, but said last night that he was "fine."
