Nets likely to pursue Brian Shaw: Report
The Nets are expected to ask the Pacers permission to interview assistant coach Brian Shaw about their head coaching vacancy, ESPN.com reported Tuesday.
Shaw has also attracted interest from the Clippers regarding their opening on the sidelines. Los Angeles has already contacted Shaw, according to the report.
Shaw has never been a head coach but played 14 seasons in the NBA with seven teams and won three NBA championships with the Lakers. He joins Memphis head coach Lionel Hollins and former Knicks and Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy on Brooklyn’s radar, according to the report. Shaw also won two NBA titles as a Lakers assistant.
The Nets decided not to retain interim coach P.J. Carlesimo, who took over for the fired Avery Johnson in December and guided the team to the No. 4 seed in the East.
