'Marvel's The Avengers'
This was a heck of a summer for superhero movies and Marvel's "The Avengers" (written and directed by Joss Whedon), the culmination of years of predecessors ("Iron Man," "Thor," "Captain America," "Hulk"), was far and away the finest of the bunch. The plot follows "Thor" villain Loki as he wreaks havoc on the world, while depicting the heroes joining together to save it. 'FDR: American Badass'
There is no way to describe this film and not sound insane, but here we go: Franklin Delano Roosevelt (played by Barry Bostwick, the mayor on "Spin City") fights Nazi werewolves in his wheelchair, which is loaded with firearms. Crazy, goofy and silly, this is a cult classic in the making. I hope there's a sequel. Seriously. (DVD, $24.98)
