New York DJ Peter Fornatale dead at 66

Pete Fornatale - the pioneering New York DJ known for his role championing new and lesser-known artists - died Thursday at Beth Israel Medical Center.
Fornatale, who was 66, suffered a brain hemorrhage on April 15 and had been in intensive care since, according to the Daily News.
He was a Bronx native, first known for his 1964 Fordham radio show "Campus Caravan." He spent his career at various New York-area radio stations, moving back to Fordham's WFUV-FM in 2001 to host the free-form Saturday show "Mixed Bag." His last show aired on April 14.
