NJ Senate approves same-sex marriage bill, Gov. Christie says he'll veto

New Jersey's state Senate approved a same-sex marriage bill by a vote of 24-16 Monday and the state Assembly is expected to approve it on Thursday, but gay couples shouldn't plan on walking down the aisle just yet.
Republican Gov. Chris Christie has promised to veto the legislation, saying he supports the state's civil union law but doesn't want to change the legal definition of marriage. Christie has said the public should vote to change the law.
New Jersey's Democratic leadership, which controls both houses of the legislature, has made gay marriage a top priority this session, but is unlikely to have the two-thirds majority needed to override Christie's promised veto.
