The NYPD is ramping up subway patrols to combat a spike in felonies on the trains, with a surge coming on the weekend because that's when 46% of all subway crimes happen, the MTA said Monday.

Officials said 62% of transit crimes take place on the train, with 17% on the platforms.

The MTA blamed the rise on the increased of electronic devices, like iPads, iPhones and Kindles. It wouldn't specify how many new officers will be deployed.
