  • NYPD top cop: We could bring down an airplane if we needed to

    If it ever came down to it, the NYPD could bring down an airplane hijacked by terrorists.

    In an interview aired Sunday on CBS’ "60 Minutes,” Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said the NYPD had the means to pull off such a counter-attack.

    "Yes, I prefer not to get into the details but obviously this would be in a very extreme situation," Kelly told Scott Pelley referring to an anti-aircraft attack.

    "You have the equipment and the training?" Pelley asked.

    Yes," Kelly said, adding that New York is the country's "number one target."
