  • Obama's itinerary in Asia: Nov. 13-19

A look at the president’s agenda during other stops on his first official visit to the region:

    Nov. 13–14
Japan: The island nation shares a hefty stake in U.S. treasuries with China. Obama will seek to convince Japan, a critical military ally, that it’s not second fiddle to China.

    Nov. 15
Singapore: Obama is due at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit for discussions about Asian trade.

    Nov. 16 – 18
    China

    Nov. 19
South Korea: Talks will revolve around mercurial rogue nation North Korea and a free trade pact. South and North Korean naval vessels exchanged fire Tuesday in disputed waters, killing a sailor. The president also is slated to meet with U.S. troops stationed in South Korea.
