Occupy Wall Street plans to grab headlines on its one-year anniversary, Sept. 17, as the culmination of three days of protests will peak with a rally at the New York Stock Exchange.
Attention to the group has been on the decline ever since the NYPD shut down its home base at Zuccotti Park last November, but OWS hopes to use the anniversary to rally support.
"In the days and weeks before (and long after) September 17th, we will be here, demanding a system that puts the health of our communities over the profits of the 1%," reads the website for the anniversary plans.
From Sept. 15 through Sept. 17, the group will hold events throughout the city, including two "Occupy Town Squares" at Washington Square Park and Thomas Paine Park, and a day of "action" at Wall Street.
