Pamela Anderson looks to B'way after 'Dancing With the Stars,' more

After being eliminated from "Dancing With the Stars," former "Baywatch" beauty queen Pamela Anderson told viewers that she would soon appear in a Broadway musical, which probably means she'll most likely be doing a run in "Chicago." Frankly, I don't really see her as a newsboy in "Newsies" or a Ugandan in "The Book of Mormon." And I highly doubt any sane producer would trust her with a role in a new musical.

Future of 'Rebecca' gets murkier and stranger
The new musical "Rebecca," which is still slated to open later this fall after being postponed last season, is still in a state of chaos. Rehearsals, which might finally begin next week, were put on hold following the death of a key investor. However, The New York Times implied in a news article on Tuesday that contrary to the claims of producer Ben Sprecher, such an investor may never have even existed. Is the European musical, which is apparently written in the vein of "Jekyll and Hyde," really worth all this trouble?

Holland Taylor's 'Ann' to play Lincoln Center
It was just a matter of time till "Ann," a new solo play written by and starring Holland Taylor ("Two and a Half Men") as the late Texas Governor Ann W. Richards, made it to Broadway. After all, it received solid reviews when it premiered last season in Washington, D.C. But the fact that it will play Lincoln Center's Vivian Beaumont Theatre, a large thrust stage, seems pretty odd. Doesn't this kind of show belong at a far more intimate house?

Redgrave to join Eisenberg for play
"The Social Network" star Jesse Eisenberg, who starred in an Off-Broadway production of his own play last season, is set to do it again with his latest work, titled "The Revisionist." But as for a co-star, he's traded in Justin Bartha for Vanessa Redgrave, who will play a 75-year-old second cousin who Eisenberg meets on a trip to Poland. Here's hoping "The Revisionist" is an improvement over "Asuncion," which was undeniably insubstantial.

Film-inspired 'Orpheus' musical in development
Stephen Byrd, whose Broadway career thus far has consisted of producing Tennessee Williams revivals with all-black and multiethnic casts, is now aiming to develop a new musical based on the 1959 French film "Black Orpheus," as first reported by The New York Times. Byrd wants to cast Brazilian actors in the piece, which transplants the Orpheus myth to Rio de Janeiro.
