Parks car hits homeless man on Coney Island Beach: Cops
A homeless man is recovering after being accidentally struck by a Parks Department security SUV early Sunday morning, police said.
The unidentified 52-year-old was walking on Coney Island Beach near W. 10th Street around 3:45 a.m. when he was struck by the patrol vehicle, a police spokeswoman said.
"There are only [the] lights of the vehicle" on the beach, which doesn't have any lights, the spokeswoman said.
The driver remained at the scene and was not charged, according to the NYPD. The victim's injuries were not life threatening, police said.
The Parks Department was not available for comment.
