Peter Jackson confirms third 'Hobbit' film

"The Hobbit" is becoming a trilogy.
Director Peter Jackson - who was also at the helm of the "Lord of the Rings" movies - announced the news Monday via Facebook. He had previously planned to only make two "Hobbit" movies.
The first film, "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey," hits theaters on Dec. 14.
