Pol wants to raise gambling age in New York to 21

If you're not old enough to buy a beer, you won't be old enough to gamble in New York state -- as long as one Queens pol has his way.
State Sen. Joseph Addabbo Jr. said Monday he's promoting a push to raise the gambling age to 21 from 18 as part of any legislative effort to legalize full casino gaming in the state.
Resorts World New York, a racino at the Aqueduct Racetrack in Addabbo's district, could one day become a Las Vegas-style casino with Albany's consent.
Addabbo said he wants to raise awareness "to avoid youthful gambling addictions"
Gov. Andrew Cuomo's office introduced a bill last week that would begin the process to legalize live gaming, which would require a voter referendum on changing the state constitution.
