Police catch Aqueduct robbery suspect in Poconos
A Queens man who allegedly thought he could pull off his own "Ocean's 11" scheme at the Aqueduct Resorts World Casino was thwarted.
Kevin Lides, 23, of Briarwood, is awaiting extradition from the Poconos after he was arraigned Wednesday on robbery and grand larceny charges for allegedly robbing $63,000 in June, Queens DA Richard Brown said.
On June 29, Lides entered the racino, handed a note to a teller that demanded money and threatened to kill her, the DA said.
The teller complied and Lides got away, however investigators were able to match his fingerprints to prints left on the note.
Pennsylvania police found Lides in the Poconos region and arrested him on Tuesday, Brown said.
"The odds of getting away with such an alleged crime were stacked against him, and his long overdue arrest proves the old adage: You can run, but you cannot hide," Brown said in a statement.
