Police were hunting for a murder suspect last night who escaped from a Brooklyn police station after attacking a cop.

Brandon Santana, 24, asked to use the bathroom around 2 a.m. Thursday, after being arrested in relation to a 2010 murder in Park Slope, according to police.

When a guard opened Santana's jail cell, he allegedly pounced on the officer and then fled the station. The officer was treated for minor injuries.

Santana, of Greenwood, was arrested early this week in connection to the murder of 22-year-old Alex Santiago. On Aug. 1, 2010, Santiago was beaten to death by a mob of men with crowbars and tire irons on Fifth Avenue and 12th Street in Brooklyn.

Santana was last seen wearing a brown hooded jacket, blue jeans, and white sneakers. He is about 5-foot-11 and weights 200 pounds.
