Polls to open Tuesday for NY primaries

Tuesday is the start to New York's election season, as the state holds its Democratic and Republican primaries for congressional races. Polls will open at 6 a.m. and close at 9 p.m.
U.S. Senate
Republicans Wendy Long, Bob Turner and George Maragos are competing to take on Sen Kirsten Gillibrand in November.
6th Congressional District, Queens
State Assembly members Grace Meng and Rory Lancman are the front-runners in the Democratic primary, going up against City Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley and political newcomer Robert Mittman. The winner will face off against Councilman Dan Halloran for the newly created seat.
8th Congressional District, Brooklyn
City Councilman Charles Barron is squaring off against state Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries for the newly created district covering East New York, Brownsville and parts of Howard Beach. There is no Republican challenger.
13th Congressional District,
Manhattan and Bronx
Looking to serve his 22nd term, Rep. Charlie Rangel is vying against four challengers. State Sen. Adriano Espaillat, who has received the endorsement of many prominent New York political figures, is Rangel's biggest challenger. There is no GOP candidate.
