Pols to cops: Crash investigations 'lackluster'
Local politicians think police need to do a better job investigating car accidents.
City Council members are expected to introduce legislation Wednesday morning aimed at reforming "the lackluster police response to traffic crashes," according to a statement released by Council Member Brad Lander's office Tuesday.
The proposed laws will look to make changes to the NYPD's Accident Investigation Squad, which only handles cases where a victim is killed or deemed likely to die.
The NYPD did not respond to a request for comment on the proposed bills Tuesday.
The pols are scheduled to formally announce the bills at City Hall at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
