The best-of-five-games series format spread out over eight days enables teams to utilize three starting pitchers on full rest, eliminating Philadelphia’s biggest weakness — a lack of back-end starting pitching. Although both ballparks play well to Cincy’s strength (an NL-leading 188 home runs, including 37 courtesy of first-baseman Joey Votto), look for the Phillies to prevail on the dominance of their three ace starters: Roy Halladay (2.44 ERA), Roy Oswalt (2.76 ERA) and Cole Hamels (3.06 ERA).
