Prez visits Ground Zero, signs final WTC beam
The president and a host of local officials gathered at Ground Zero on Thursday night to commemorate the installation of the final steel beam at the World Trade Center site.
President Barack Obama, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and Gov. Andrew Cuomo and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie also signed the beam in front of thousands of cheering construction workers who have worked at the site.
The entourage, including First Lady Michelle Obama, then took a tour of what is now the city's tallest structure. Obama last visited the site during the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. The president was also in town for two fundraisers with celebrities including Sarah Jessica Parker and Mariah Carey.
