A Queens couple died less than two hours apart Thursday morning in what cops believe was a murder-suicide, officials said.

Amis Cale, 41, is suspected of brutally stabbing his wife to death at around 8:45 a.m. Thursday before fleeing their Sunnyside apartment and jumping off a platform of an elevated No. 7 subway station, police said.

Police and EMS found 37-year-old Jennifer Cale in her apartment with "multiple stab wounds" and rushed her to Elmhurst Hospital. She was pronounced dead on arrival.

Her husband was rushed to the same hospital in critical condition shortly after 10 a.m., where he also died, police and hospital officials said.

The couple's 19-year-old daughter was the first to see the gruesome scene, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said. Her father then ran out of the apartment to the nearby subway station, he said.

"There was obviously a fight between husband and wife," Kelly said at an unrelated news conference. He said a witness watched Cale jump off the 40th Street-Lowery Street No. 7 platform.

A source with knowledge of the case said the family was "a wreck."

A police spokesman said although an investigation is ongoing, "it looks like it's a murder suicide."
