Queens-Midtown Tunnel to open Tuesday for rush hour bus traffic
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Monday night that the Queens Midtown-Tunnel will be opened on a limited basis for buses.
One lane of the south tube will be open for Manhattan bound buses only from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and for Queens bound buses only between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
No other vehicles will be allowed to use the tunnel. MTA police and the NYPD will enforce the rules.
Cuomo didn't give a timetable as to when it will be open to all traffic.
The Hugh L. Carey Tunnel, formerly known as the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, will remain closed indefinitely as crews work to pump out the water.
