Rapper 50 Cent hospitalized after car crash
Rapper 50 Cent was briefly hospitalized early Tuesday morning after being involved in a car crash on the Long Island Expressway, his publicist said.
The hip-hop star, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, was the passenger in a bulletproof SUV when a large truck hit the back of the vehicle about 11:20 p.m. Monday, according to emergency officials and a post on Jackson's website, ThisIs50.com.
Photos on the site showed him wearing a neck brace as he was being taken away on a stretcher. One caption posted under a photo of the truck said the driver had told police he "lost control" of the rig. A police spokeswoman said she was unable to confirm that account, and did not have additional details about the crash at press time.
His driver also sustained minor injuries in the crash, according to an FDNY spokeswoman. Hospital officials said they couldn't release his condition last night.
Jackson was treated for neck and back injuries at New York Hospital Queens and released Tuesday morning, according to his publicist, who said he was "doing fine."
