Rep. Peter King rejected a private meeting with a Colombian hooker.
Dania Suarez, the escort at the center of a scandal involving Secret Service agents in Cartagena ahead of a trip by President Barack Obama, asked to meet King in his office last week, the Long Island Republican said Sunday.
"While such a meeting -- and the inevitable circus atmosphere surrounding it -- would no doubt be of great interest to the media covering this story, a meeting with her is simply not necessary at this time,” King said in an emailed statement.
King, chairman of the House committee on Homeland Security, said he’d rather get any information Suarez wants to share through her attorney instead.
King said that when Suarez recently met with the Secret Service, she said she never had access to confidential information and didn’t even know her client was an agent.
In an interview with “Today” last week, the 24-year-old Suarez called the agents who allegedly brought hookers back to their hotel rooms “stupid idiots.”
