Rewind: 'Storage Wars' worth a bid
If you’ve never seen an episode of the A&E series “Storage Wars,” then it’s going to be difficult to explain to you not just why I love the show so much, but also why you will too. This series, which on the surface is basically about a bunch of uncouth oddballs bidding on abandoned storage units and then digging through the garbage looking for gold, offers a fascinating look at competitive bidding psychology — plus the discovery of what’s in those boxes, safes and cabinets is just great television. The personalities are fun and fit nicely into familiar archetypes: You have Dave, the rich guy everyone hates; Barry, your weird uncle; Darrell, the sleeveless tough guy; and the underdog Jarrod and his much smarter wife Brandi. You can catch the first season here, and then the countless reruns. You’ll quickly be hooked. (Season One: DVD, $19.95)
