Rice hired as CBS contributor
Condoleezza Rice, who made history as the first black woman to serve as secretary of state, has signed on to be a contributor at CBS.
The announcement was made by "Face the Nation" host Bob Schieffer as Rice made her first appearance on Sunday's program as part of a roundtable discussion.
In it, the 58-year-old Republican criticized her party, saying that it has a "political and policy problem."
Rice served as secretary of state in President George W. Bush's second term and was national security adviser in his first term.
The Alabama-native made a return to the spotlight in the 2012 Republican National Convention, where she made a well-received speech in support of GOP candidate Mitt Romney.
