  • Rudy Giuliani endorses Bob Turner for Kirsten Gillibrand's senate seat

    Ex-Mayor Rudy Giuliani

Republican Bob Turner, who won Democrat Anthony Weiner's congressional seat representing parts of Brooklyn and Queens, won former Mayor Rudy Giuliani's endorsement Wednesday to take the seat of Sen. Kirstin Gillibrand.

"Bob Turner is the definition of a citizen legislator who took his lifelong business experience to Washington," Giuliani said in a statement.

The Republican primary is a three-way race between Turner, Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos, who is endorsed by the Brooklyn Tea Party, and Manhattan lawyer Wendy Long, who is endorsed by the American Conservative Union, according to capitalnewyork.com.

The primary is on June 26 and the congressional seat Turner now occupies is due to disappear as a result of redistricting.
