Shake Shack opens at Grand Central Saturday
Starting Saturday, commuters can get a burger and shake (or frozen custard, called the "Concrete" by Shake Shack) before catching a train. The rapidly-expanding haute-burger chain is opening a new location in Grand Central Terminal's Lower Level Dining Concourse. The GCT location has been two years in the making.
In addition to the standard menu, the new location will also serve the just-introduced fresh hand-cut fries, and will be the first Shack location to serve the "signature" ShackMeister Ale in bottles. Also special to the menu is the custom custard shake flavor GCT Crunch-stellation, a combination of malt, Valrhona chocolate crunchies and chocolate toffee pieces with a frozen vanilla custard base. The delicious treat is named after Grand Central's constellation mural.
Can New Yorkers count on shorter lines as each new Shake Shack opens, with DUMBO next for Brooklyn? Probably not at the new Grand Central location, an iconic attraction with more than 500,000 visitors daily, according to grandcentralterminal.com.
