Whitney Houston's presence was certainly felt at Tuesday night's New York premiere of "Sparkle," the last movie the film and music legend ever made.

As the film's stars - including Jordin Sparks and Tika Sumpter - walked the red carpet and later mingled at Alizé COCO's after-party, the late Houston, who died in February, was on everyone's mind.

"The overall tone was celebratory versus sorrowful," a partygoer told us. "People were happy to watch her in one last, amazing role."

There was also "lots and lots of chatter" about Houston deserving an Oscar nom for her performance.

At the party, held at The Yard at the Soho Grand Hotel, the DJ played a few of Houston's hits, which were received with smiles and a little dancing, but not an all-out celebration.
