Staten Island man charged in death of wife over cable TV fight
A TV-obsessed Staten Island man was charged with unintentionally killing his wife after he allegedly beat her for refusing to pay for cable TV while he was in the hospital, officials and reports said yesterday.
Thomas Scala, 57, was charged with criminally negligent homicide after his wife, Blanche, 59, died last November after he allegedly beat her and re-injured a previous brain wound, officials said.
Staten Island District Attorney Daniel Donovan said Scala admitted to hitting his wife, but they don't think Scala meant to kill her.
