Nearly seven miles of Manhattan streets will be handed over to pedestrians for several hours this Saturday to run, bike and play.
The city is shutting down several streets between the Brooklyn Bridge and Central Park on Saturday, Aug. 11 and 18 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. for "Summer Streets," when New Yorkers can exercise in the middle of the street without worrying about being mowed down by cars.
Here are some activities being offered this year:
A 160-foot-long zip line
A 25-foot rock climbing wall
Free dance classes
A yoga pop-up park
Free bike helmets being handed out by the transportation department
A fire hydrant sprinkler
