'The Artist' and 'Hugo' lead Oscar nominations

Awards season is upon us, and nominations for the biggest show of them all - the Academy Awards - were announced yesterday, with Martin Scorsese's "Hugo" leading the pack with 11 nominations. Hollywood heavyweights (and friends) George Clooney and Brad Pitt did well, each nabbing two noms, but perhaps the the biggest surprise was Melissa McCarthy scoring a supporting actress nom for her role in the hilarious (but un-Oscar-esque) comedy "Bridesmaids."
